As a brand photographer, I think a LOT about branding and what goes into building a brand. Are you a business owner looking to grow your business and attract more of your ideal clients? If your answer is yes, you’re in the right place. This article will discuss what goes into building your brand so that you can attract your ideal clients, stand out from the competition and grow your revenue.
Many businesses think of their brand as their website, logo, colors, fonts, packaging, etc. It’s true, these are parts of your brand but if you are just getting started or looking to make a change in your business to mazimize your growth, you need to take a step back.
I like to think of each brand as a plant and every plant starts with a seed. The seed represents the business idea or concept. Just as a seed needs the right conditions to grow, a business needs the right inputs to build a strong brand.
From the seed, the roots grow. The roots represent the brand inputs, such as the why, values, strengths, market need, products and services, and messaging. Just as the roots of a plant provide stability and nourishment, these inputs provide the foundation for a strong and healthy brand.
Once we have strong roots in place, the stem can grow. The stem represents the visual identity of the brand, including the logo, colors, fonts and design elements. The stem supports the brand identity and connects the roots to the leaves and flowers.
The leaves represent the content and marketing materials that communicate the brand story to the audience. This can include website content, social media posts, advertising, and other marketing materials.
The flowers represent the products and services that the business offers. Just as flowers are the most visible and recognizable part of the plant, the products and services are the most tangible and visible aspect of the brand.
The fruit represents the results of a strong brand, such as customer loyalty, trust, and recognition. Just as fruit is the reward for a healthy plant, these results are the reward for building a strong and effective brand.
Just as a plant needs the right inputs to grow strong and healthy, a business needs the right brand inputs to build a strong and effective brand. By focusing on the roots, a business can build a solid foundation that supports a strong and recognizable brand identity.
WHERE DOES BRAND PHOTOGRAPHY FIT IN?
You may be wondering where brand photography fits in this process. Your brand photographer plays an important role in creating your visual identity and providing content support to your brand. In order to create effective brand photos, your photographer should intimately understand your brand inputs, the seed and the stem of your plant, in order to effectively communicate your story to your audience. With this knowledge, they should be able to create intentional photos that showcase your products and services, set you apart from your competition and attract your ideal customers.
Here are some brand photos that I took recently for hairstylist Alexis Hammett. This was my second time working with Alexis and she has such a fun personality. Our goal was to create photos to showcase her personality and new services that she is providing to clients.
